Paddy Mark is a Clinical Reader and Honorary Consultant Nephrologist at the Glasgow Renal and
Transplant Unit based at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow. He was appointed as
Clinical Senior Lecturer in 2011 following clinical training in Medicine and Nephrology combined
with a Clinical Lecturer post between 2006-2011. His PhD, awarded the Bellahouston Medal for
outstanding thesis by medical graduate, was funded by a British Heart Foundation Junior Clinical
Fellowship. He graduated in Medicine from the University of Glasgow in 1999 as Brunton Medallist
for first in year. He leads the United Kingdom Cardio-Renal Clinical Study Group, as part of the
United Kingdom Kidney Research Consortium. He is the Chief Scientist Office Scotland Clinical
Lead for Renal Research and the Academic Director of the West of Scotland Academic Foundation
Year program. His main clinical interest is in the long term care of kidney transplant recipients and
he recently chaired the UK Renal Association Guidelines for Care of the Kidney Transplant
Recipient.
